EASEE-gas was set up in 2002 in order to develop and promote business practices to simplify and streamline both physical gas transfer and trading across Europe. We aim to represent all segments of the gas industry and our full members are companies that appreciate the benefits that EASEE-gas brings to the gas industry.

Membership is open to any organisation involved in the European gas industry, from producers to end users, and to companies that are their service providers. Full members can join one or more of the eight Gas Industry Segments depending where they operate in the gas chain.

Security Certificates

Introduction to the EASEE-gas Security Certificates.

EASEE-gas has decided to use the AS2 protocol over public Internet to exchange EDIG@S messages. Since the Internet is the single backbone to which everything connects, everything therefore is potentially vulnerable.

Thus business information which is exchanged via this network should be protected. An essential part of this protection is the use of certificates. Digital security certificates must be issued by an independent certificate provider.

The consequence could be that companies obtain certificates from a lot of different certificate providers. This would lead to the fact that all information exchanging parties involved would face an enormous maintenance effort.

The EASEE-gas organization recognized these issues and found it necessary to act as a single certificate provider as a service to all of the business partners in the European gasmarket. The EASEE-gas organization is independent but strongly related to the European gas market and can therefore act as an independent issuer of these digital security certificates.
